ETNA SUMMIT HIKE

Highlights: Summit base at 2900mt, Valle del Bove, Lava cave, Extinct Craters.

The excursion starts from Rifugio Sapienza (Etna South) where you will witness the unique landscape of the black lava predominating over any other color. Thanks to the cable car and Unimog 4×4 buses, we will reach 2900 meters (9,5 feet) of altitude. The hike starts from here followed by a Volcanologist Guide that will lead us up to the summit, at an altitude of 3.300 mt, reaching one of the four main active craters. From this height you will enjoy an amazing view of Sicily that you will never forget. Then return to the base of 2.900mt with a moderate trekking between different craters and a stunning view of the Bove Valley. For lunch we will stop in this lunar scenery and have sandwiches with typical local food.

N.B  The tour is subject to volcanic activity therefore it cannot be guaranteed for safety reasons.

Safety notes: Visit not suitable for children under 7 yrs old, pregnant woman, people with heart/breath diseases, conjunctivitis and similar (the area is full of sulphuric gases), people with reduced mobility, people suffering vertigo, anxiety etc.
